The Background

Through our LiveEye advanced energy management platform, Cura Energy has helped an existing Retail Client identify and verify significant reductions in energy consumption and operating costs following optimisation of a site BMS control strategy. The project was initiated after our client identified an issue with the BMS controls at one of their sites and requested that our engineers investigate the problem.

Thanks to LiveEye’s project tracking tools, we have demonstrated a return on investment in under 5 days.

The Cura Energy Approach

Our Cura Engineers attended site and identified that the BMS controller was offline, with items of plant manually overridden. As a result, the Air Handling Units (AHUs) were operating continuously, 24 hours a day.

The engineers resolved the controller issue and restored the AHUs to automatic operation. Additionally, they implemented revised timeclock schedules and adjusted temperature setpoints to optimise the control strategy and overall plant performance.

Using data from the existing site sub-metering infrastructure, LiveEye was then used to monitor, track and verify the impact of the optimisation works against the prior baseline energy consumption.

The Result

Using LiveEye’s advanced project tracking and reporting tools, we were able to demonstrate significant reductions in both energy consumption and operating costs following the BMS control strategy changes.
This delivered:

• Accurate verification of energy and cost savings against the prior baseline.
• Objective measurement of financial payback following the optimisation works.
• Demonstrated return on investment achieved in under 5 days, including the initial BMS maintenance callout
