Client: Tesco Wisbech
Task: Building Energy Management Systems
Tesco selected their new store at Wisbech as a ‘Next Generation’ store where they could trial, test and pilot new techniques and technologies. If successful, these could then be implemented across the whole Tesco estate. Cura were tasked to develop the new store BEMS, Lighting and Metering specification to integrate all systems to operate as one entity.
We had initial scoping meetings to establish an outline brief of Tesco’s requirements prior to establishing the detail. Once we had developed the scheme in conjunction with other stakeholders, a specification was developed outlining what was being installed –how, when and why.
Once approved, our detailed design work for Control Panels, Electrical Installation, Software Engineering and Commissioning was put into place ready for the site start date. The installation was carried out with full co-ordination across the other services to ensure our site installation and commissioning was carried out successfully.
All the newly installed systems were installed and performed to specification. Further trials were carried out to test the systems effectiveness using thermal imaging and smoke testing in conjunction with the Mechanical Contractor.
The Wisbech store will now be continually assessed to validate the success of the initiatives in all seasons, so it can form the basis of the national rollout across all Tesco stores
